C-MAC Inspires Students to Pursue Career in Electronics

C-MAC MicroTechnology, a world leader in high-reliability electronics, announces its continuing commitment to local schools by sending students to take part in the Futures Day at Farnborough International Airshow 2010. With assistance from Government body Aim Higher, C-MAC arranged for 99 pupils from seven schools in the Great Yarmouth area to attend the Futures Day, Friday, July 23, 2010. The aim of the visit was to inspire young minds towards a career in electronics with a focus on aerospace, defence and security.

Pupils from Caister High, Benjamin Britten High, Lynn Grove High and Thorpe St. Andrew High Schools with students from Great Yarmouth College outside the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) RQ-4 Global Hawk.

Futures Day gave students the chance to examine BLOUDHOUND the supersonic car and try out a flight simulator. The students, who were selected from electronics, systems and control and design and technology classes, were given the opportunity to speak with an astronaut and industry leaders.  Participating schools included Caister High, Benjamin Britten High, Great Yarmouth High, Lynn Grove High, Thorpe St. Andrew High and Great Yarmouth College.

As one of the largest non-governmental employers in the Great Yarmouth area C-MAC is dedicated to encouraging local pupils to consider a future career in engineering. In addition to organising educational days out, C-MAC provides apprenticeships and work experience placements to school children in the region.
